| There are as many
opinions on how to breed horses as there are horses. One
owner will stress the importance of natural pasture
breeding while others will press for artificial
insemination. Some believe in frozen sperm others must
live ship the sperm and have it implanted with in 48
hours.
Personally, we see some usefulness in every method. True there are different
degrees of success associated with each but they all are in use and have there
supporters. However, at Honey Creek Ranch we believe in live cover. Properly
done, live cover offers a safe alternative to the other methods of breeding and
at the same time has the highest rate of success.
There are many things to consider when it comes to breeding. Our friends
at
Adventures in
Owning a Tennessee Walking Horse offer some guidelines that we think
are extremely valid. We've put these pointers in our
Tennessee Walking Horse FAQ section of the
site.
Honey Creek Ranch associates usually involve the services of a veterinarian to
assist in the actual breeding sessions. This type of breeding coupled with
sonograms to identify the proper time for breeding and then post exams to insure
ovulation and conception ,for us at Honey Creek Ranch, has proven to be the most
successful method of breeding. No collection, no straws, no freezing or mad
dashes to or from the airport to meet time lines associated with shipping yet
reasonable safety can be offered to both mare and stallion.
Honey Creek Ranch is proud to stand at stud

Solo is a 4 year old Stallion new to the breeding world but has two mares
